Posted on Monday, November 8, 2010 in Health Insurance

Okay, so you’re super healthy, and rarely go to the doctor…AND you don’t want to spend a lot on health insurance.  Perhaps the answer is coverage just for catastrophic events, major illness or horrible accident.  But is this all you need?

Posted on Monday, November 8, 2010 in Health Insurance

Rates have come down dramatically in term life insurance in the last few years, due to the fact that we are all living longer, and the insurance companies haven’t had to too many claims.

What is an HMO?

Posted on Thursday, October 28, 2010 in Health Insurance

HMO is a health maintenance organization.  It’s managed health care.  Your doctor is your “primary care physician” or PCP.  You must see your PCP to get a referral to see a specialist.  It’s a “closed” network of providers, meaning you have no coverage if you go outside the network.  Is it right for you?  Watch the video to see.

Massanutten Was Massasomethin…Somethin Cold!

Posted on Friday, January 8, 2010 in Family

Lori’s folks Christmas present to us was a weekend with them and the kids at a resort in Northwestern Virginia called Massanutten.  We got there New Year’s Day and on Saturday we went snow tubing.  In the video it looks ideal, sunny and clear, perfect, right.  OMG it was the coldest I’ve ever felt.  I swear in 18 years in Rochester, NY I never felt this cold.  The wind was ripping us apart as we waited for our turns to tube.  Somehow Kate & Nathan were oblivious to it all, but us grown ups bailed and went inside for hot chocolate in due time.

We thawed out later, see the next post.
